It's exactly one year since we took up cleaning of the pond in our park. The water was stinking. At that time six large bags of trash was picked up after which the smell disappeared !!
Unfortunately, now, there is a lot of trash floating on the water. (Will people ever learn ?? ) The water is completely covered with algae. Grass & land plants have invaded the pond.
Dr Prakash says the pond will die if the invading plants, grass and algae are not cleared.
Dr Prakash, Chairman of the NGO Nandanavana (who had done the avenue tree survey in Jayamahal) and Ms Sagarika, HOD at Shee Jagadguru Renukacharya College along with some students came over to help clear the algae.
We collected the algae and used it as a fertiliser !
Three hours of work and we hardly made a dent ! We are now looking for professional help from competent authorities who can help clean the pond without harming the fish, tortoise, moor hens and the countless creatures living in the water and also birds like kingfisher, pond herons, cormorants and others who come fishing !
Please contact us if you can help !
